Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Your trust is the entire product. This policy explains exactly what information MARP collects, why we collect it, how we store it, and the very limited circumstances under which we share it. Plain English first; legal definitions only when they actually clarify something.
1. What we collect
- Account info — email, city, and any optional interview tags you choose.
- Verification record — a timestamp, the host's ID, and a single profile photo taken at your verification appointment. We visually verify your government ID in person; we do not store a scan, image, or copy of it.
- Profile content — anything you write or upload to your profile and any messages you send through the app.
- Device & usage data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and approximate location (city-level) for security and analytics.
- Cookies & local storage — see the Cookies section below.
2. How we use it
- To run verification appointments and activate your account.
- To show your profile only to other verified members within your visibility settings.
- To detect and prevent fraud, impersonation, and abuse.
- To send you transactional email (verification confirmations, account changes, safety notices).
- To improve the product through aggregated, de-identified analytics.
3. How we share it
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Other verified members — and only within the visibility rules you choose.
- Trusted infrastructure providers — hosting, database, email delivery, and analytics vendors who are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to MARP.
- Law enforcement — only when legally compelled by a valid subpoena, court order, or to prevent imminent harm.
4. Cookies & tracking
We use three categories of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential — authentication and security. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — anonymous usage measurement to improve the product.
- Preferences — remember your city, filters, and interview tags.
You can choose Essential only in the cookie banner, or clear browser storage at any time to reset your consent choice.
5. Your rights
You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing privacy@datearealperson.com. Depending on where you live (EU/UK, California, etc.), you may also have the right to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. We honor all valid requests within 30 days.
6. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, profile content and messages are removed within 30 days; minimal verification records are retained for up to 24 months for fraud prevention, then purged.
